Home from Nova Scotia!

We had a fabulous trip to Nova Scotia last week. We flew from Toronto to Halifax with WestJet. Our flights were on-time and enjoyable (we each had our own t.v.'s! Darryl = Discovery Channel, Leah = Treehouse, Tracey = TLC) Daddy and Leah watching our luggage board the plane. She was quite excited watching all of the airplanes at the airport.

"Ahhhh, 1.5 hours of peace and quiet!"

Yummy fish and chips!
Fish and chips seemed to be a popular choice this week!

On Saturday morning Grandma, Grandpa, Leah, Darryl and I went on a road trip up to Digby and Brier Island. It is finally starting to feel like Nova Scotia!

To get to Brier Island we needed to take two ferries. This was Leah's favorite part because she got to get out of her car seat and stand at the window. The ferries were short trips, maybe 2 minutes.

For dinner we hopped on the ferry again and went back to Long Island. The ferry is free if you walk on. Lavina's restaurant is a favourite of Grandma and Grandpa's so we had to try it! Fresh local Scallops....yum, yum!

One of the lighthouses on Brier Island.

We tried to walk to Seal Cove to see the seals, got lost and ended up back at the hotel.

The next morning we went on a Whale Watching charter. It was so foggy all morning, we didn't see a thing! We had fun on the boat watching all of the seasick tourists. Leah ended up feeling under the weather and I reaped the rewards...I got to cuddle with her while she slept most of the trip. Once she woke up closer to shore she was feeling better and came alive again.

"Whales, where are you?"

Well if we can't see anything, we can always eat!

close to shore we saw this fishing boat collecting Scallops. Leah loved it, yelling out that it was a Pirate ship!

Fresh local lobster for sale...check out the size of that lobster!

Leah insisted on riding in the back of the bus! When we were picked up from the airport her seat was in the middle row, we quickly changed it upon her screaming requests for the back seat!

BUSTED! Caught red handed in the bacon plate before breakfast!

After getting fitted for Darryl and Zac's suits we took the Scenic Coastal Highway back to Truro from Amherst. We stopped near Pugwash while the tide was out to walk along the ocean floor. We enjoyed the walk on the red sandy ocean floor. We found crabs, jellyfish and lots of seashells.

The water was so warm, this was my favorite part of our adventure!

Oh my!

We should have brought an extra memory card for our camera and taken pictures every time Leah went to the washroom on our holiday! It seemed as though she knew when was an inconvenient time and she'd scream "Pee pee!" Luckily it was only us out on the beach at this time!

Family fun

Tired Uncle Zac and Leah after our big play on the beach.

Our next stop was Melmerby Beach in Pictou County. Little did we know it was swarming with Jellyfish! Check out the size of them!

Leah and Zac still swam...quickly! Apparently these jellyfish sting, but it doesn't hurt too bad.

A local gentleman picked up a jellyfish to show us. Touching the top if feels like jell-o.

Leah let Uncle Zac bury her in the sand. She had a great time with him this week. He was her personal toy. He did everything she told him to do (notice the work told! she never asked, only demanded!)

Leave Aunt Melissa and Leah alone for 5 minutes and this is what you find....a princess playing the guitar. Leah sure had fun playing the guitar with Melissa.

"Daddy please take me down the water slide! Pretty please"

Here we go! Darryl and Leah went down the 80 foot water slide together. Darryl used his feet to slow them down so he wouldn't drown Leah once they reached the pool. She enjoyed herself and wanted to go again. We compromised and let her slide down the open part of the slide at the bottom so Darryl didn't have to go through the pain of the entire slide again.

Hanging on tight to her treat.

Leah and Uncle Brad...the only Uncle who gets Uncle before his name!

The Wedding Topper
Visiting
The plane ride back to Toronto was not nearly as exciting for Leah. She was asleep before takeoff and slept half the trip home. What a great holiday we had! Now thoughts of our next vacation are filling our minds...
