Brier Island and Shark Fishing through Bruce's Eyes

Bear with me as I post another bunch of pictures from our holiday. We had such a great time that we wanted to share more pictures with you. Bruce took some amazing pictures! Leah trying to get a closer look at the frigid waters between Long Island and Brier Island.

My seasick bunny....Mommy lovin' the cuddles!

Daddy and Leah getting fresh air on the back of the whale watching boat.

6:00am departure for shark fishing.

Grandma Pat bringing in the first blue shark of the day. Unfortunately it got away before she brought it into the boat.

Grandpa Bruce brings in shark #2

Bruce helping hold down his catch while Captain Art measures and tags the shark before releasing it back into the water.

Darryl hanging on to Brad while he brings in the next shark. Zac was the official videographer for the day, standing close and recording.
The Wood charter managed to tag 18 shark, with many more that got away during the struggle to reel them in!

Hanging on for dear life! The water got a lot rougher once they were set up to fish. It took a while for everyone to get use to the rock of the boat. They didn't want to be falling overboard into the sharky waters!

Zac and one of his sharks.

Look at the scares on this shark. Apparently they attack eachother when they notice they are in distress. So when a shark is being reeled in other shark will attack it. Quite a few of the shark they caught had wounds. Sharks blood dries up instantly so that other predators can not smell it in the ocean. Apparently a sharks sense of smell is strong enough to smell blood a mile away.
Darryl's next catch.

Another one from Zac.

By the end of the day Darryl and Brad were helping to measure and tag the sharks.

Group effort!

Putting up a good fight!

It got to the point that they were bringing in shark while still tagging others! They couldn't work fast enough!
